My name is Wayne and I’ve come to the food bank because I’ve been homeless for a bit and it’s been a godsend to me. Trying to eat right and not, you know, bulk up on starches which sounds kind of weird if you’re hungry but it’s nice to try to stay healthier too.
Being hungry, you don’t have energy. You spend a lot of time trying to just take care of the basics instead of getting ahead in your life. It just makes things difficult. I’m looking for work, and I’m in my 50s so it’s difficult to find, so getting back on your feet you need all the help you can get.
I’ve been introduced to a program called PATH and they help people who are in my situation get back on their feet in conjunction with the food bank, so I’m utilizing their services right now. I’m grateful for this place and the people who contribute to it. Elk Grove is pretty cool when it comes to that. That’s it.
